Prospective Lethbridge College students invited to Winter Open House

Prospective students are free to explore Lethbridge College and all it has to offer during Saturday’s campus-wide Winter Open House. Visitors can browse information booths in Centre Core to learn all about student support services before touring labs and classrooms that highlight some of the 60-plus certificate, diploma, degree and apprenticeship programs offered at the college.

College research project promotes growing mushrooms sustainably through food waste

A faculty member at Lethbridge College has embarked on a new project to study sustainable growing methods for blue oyster mushrooms, while providing Culinary students the opportunity to cook with gourmet produce. Thanks to an internal research grant from the college’s Centre for Applied Research Internal Fund (CARIF), Dr. Adriana Morrell, Agriculture Sciences instructor has spent the last six months creating a mycology lab on campus to test a variety of substrates and their effects on blue oyster mushroom growth.

Lethbridge College is celebrating Black History Month in February with an array of cultural activities and learning opportunities for everyone on campus. Organized by a committee of employees, students and the Lethbridge College Students’ Association (LCSA), events will highlight the diversity of the Black community at Lethbridge College and celebrate the history and achievements of Black Canadians while promoting equity, diversity and inclusion across the institution.

Lethbridge College reaches record high in Canadian college research rankings

Lethbridge College continues to forge its reputation as one of Canada’s top research colleges, ranking 16th in the annual Research Infosource ranking of Canada’s top 50 research colleges. The 16th place ranking is Lethbridge College’s highest ever appearance in the rankings and the first time the college has cracked the top 20.

Lethbridge College receives over $2 million to develop agriculture research centre

Lethbridge College’s on-site research capabilities received a major boost with more than $2 million in federal funding announced today in Lethbridge. The funding from PrairiesCan will allow the college to complete development of its new the Agriculture Research Innovation Facility and to hire skilled personnel to operate its state-of-the-art agriculture research laboratory.

The financial pressure on Mandy Mabe and her family is a bit lighter these days. The second-year Bachelor of Nursing student at Lethbridge College was recently chosen as one of 20 recipients of the Colleges and Institutes Canada Paul and Gerri Charette Bursary Program.

Lethbridge College board chair reappointed; new members added

Lethbridge College will enjoy consistency at the head of its Board of Governors table, as Board Chair Michael Marcotte has been reappointed to a three-year term by the Government of Alberta. Marcotte initially joined the college’s board as chair in September 2019.
