Beginning Monday, Sept. 27, everyone accessing the Lethbridge College campus will be able to use LC Alert to enter and track their vaccination status or negative COVID-19 test results.

The Lethbridge College Pandemic Response Program was implemented on Monday, Sept. 20, and requires everyone on campus to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination, provide a negative PCR or rapid test taken within 72 hours of accessing the campus, or have an approved medical exemption, as a response to the Government of Alberta’s Exemption request from CMOH 42-2021.

LC Alert is a campus safety app and mass notification system that has been in use since early 2021; however, it was quickly adapted by college teams to include a vaccine passport. The confidential and easy-to-use system is available as either an app for mobile phones or through a web page that can be accessed by computer or phone. Beginning Monday, everyone entering campus will have to show a green “approved” screen from LC Alert to access campus.

“Launching this new feature of our LC Alert app is an important step in support of our priorities of keeping our entire community healthy and safe, and supporting all efforts to offer classes in-person for the entire semester,” says Dr. Paula Burns, Lethbridge College President and CEO. “I want to thank the many people and teams from across the college who worked together to create and implement this system in such a quick time frame. It’s an important step to enhance the health and safety of our campus.”

LC Alert can be accessed by all Lethbridge College students and employees, as well as anyone visiting campus. Instructions on how to use LC Alert are available on the college’s website.

To launch implementation of the LC Alert system, everyone entering campus from Sept. 27 to Oct. 1 will have to enter campus through one of five major entrances and show their green “approved” status from LC Alert. This step will ensure LC Alert is being used correctly and will provide support to those who may be having issues.
