Culinary Careers

Work in kitchens in various settings. Prepare meals, create menus, work in teams.

Delivery

  • compressed 16-month diploma
  • August and January admission
  • 16-week, paid industry placement
  • prepares grads to write first- and second-year apprenticeship exams in WATS
  • awards 300 hours of experience credit

Careers

  • Chef or cook at restaurants or hotels, caterer, restaurant manager, baker

Admission Requirements

60% in English 20 and 60% Math 20 pure or applied with 65 Alberta High School credits.

  • $6,140 Year I

Wind Turbine Technician

Work as a technician in the wind-turbine industry, or continue working toward your journeyman electrician certification.

Delivery

  • 32-week certificate
  • September, January or May admission
  • Prepares students to write BZEE exams for certificate of competence

Careers

  • Find work in areas such as: wind turbine electrical, mechanical and hydraulic systems, blade inspection and repair, wind farm construction, turbine manufacturing

Admission Requirements

High School Diploma with 50% Math 20 and 50% English 30-1 or 30-2 and a minimum of 10 high school science credits. Or successful completion of Alberta Apprenticeship first period Electrical pre-entrance exam with a minimum of 70%.

  • $6,600 - 32 weeks

Agricultural and Heavy Equipment Technician

Work in a shop handling any type of repairs. Service trucks or become a journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician or Agricultural Equipment Technician

Delivery

  • one-year certificate
  • September admission (January admission possible)
  • prepares grads to write first- and second-year apprenticeship exams in Agricultural Equipment Technician and Heavy Equipment Technician
  • awards 600 hours of experience credit
  • transfers to the Agricultural and Heavy Equipment Technician program at Olds College, and Bachelor of Science in Diesel Technology at Montana State University – Northern (Havre, Mont.)

Careers

  • service managers or shop foremen, parts technicians, plant and food safety, petroleum and mining equipment technicians

Admission Requirements

50% in English 20 and 50% in Math 20

  • $6,190 Year I

Automotive Systems

Work fixing cars, specializes in automobile maintenance, repair, and sometimes modification.

Delivery

  • one-year certificate
  • September admission
  • prepares grads to write first- and second-year apprenticeship exams in Automotive Systems
  • awards 600 hours of experience credit

Careers

  • journeymen automotive service technicians, shop foremen, service managers, shop owners

Admission Requirements

  It was a great program. Teachers are not only knowledgeable but well experienced. It was so nice that we could work on actual turbines.
