The Kodiaks program competes in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC), the pre-eminent college athletics conference in Canada. Teams that qualify as ACAC Champions progress to compete at the Canadian Colleges Athletics Association (CCAA) national championships.
The majority of student athletes are identified and specifically recruited, however, open tryouts take place in late-August and early-September and most teams stage talent identification camps in the spring.
Team members receive professional coaching, athletics/physical therapy services, academic support, scholarships, travel opportunities, world class facilities, and a rewarding, enriching experience. Court sports (basketball and volleyball) are played in the 1,700-seat Val Matteotti Gymnasium; soccer is played at the Lethbridge Soccer Centre and golf at the Paradise Canyon Golf Course.
In order to be eligible to participate, student athletes must be registered as full-time Lethbridge College students and can compete for a maximum of five years of eligibility.
As part of the athletic fee that every student contributes, Lethbridge College students qualify for free admission to attend highly-entertaining Kodiaks home games.
Men’s and Women’s Sports: Basketball, soccer, volleyball, cross-country running and golf.
Athletic Scholarships: Alberta residents may be eligible to receive a Jimmie Condon Scholarship, currently valued at $1,800 ($900/term). To qualify, student athletes mush maintain a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester and a 2.0/4.0 GPA. Non-Alberta residents can qualify after completing one full year of studies in Alberta.
