First week in Res
Now that a week has passed since I first got down here, I feel I have a better student view to offer. Couple days of classes have gone by, met some people, experienced what the college has to offer. Well, sort of. The first day moving in, was a bit of a shock. Driving two and a half hours, though not as long as others, to find out Kodiak House was not ready. For lack of mattresses. My first though was, what? Where do I put all my stuff? Though they were kind enough to put us up in a hotel for the night. I thought I would have been so nervous or excited for the next day. Nothing. Ended up having a wonder sleep. Next surprise was when I actually got to my room here. Granted 300 square feet is not huge, it is very decently sized. Bigger than I though, though the shower sucks. No hot water this morning either ( insert sad face ). The biggest challenge living by myself in the first week was trying to eat healthy. Sure, I went to Costco and Safeway. Spent a few hundred dollars on groceries. Beef, chicken, eggs, strawberries, broccoli, stuff like that you know? When it came time to cooking, that is a whole other issue unto its self. I am no red seal chef, but also I can cook some half decent meals. I just did not find the energy to do it. So for the first couple days it was Pizza. Fair to say I am thoroughly disgusted for now by pizza. Well Little Caesar's anyway's.
When it came time to class, I was nervous. Having been out of the school system for five years, coupled with a learning disability, it was a bit daunting. I really never enjoyed school much to begin with in my youth. So perhaps you can imagine a bit of what I was feeling. To my surprise, most classes were not much bigger than high school. I felt very comfortable after just moments of being there! Though the social aspect I need to work on, everything for the most part was ok. Though my sociology class has something like, 61 students I believe. Minus the 8am chem classes, I think this semester should be thoroughly enjoyable.
