LAW-265 Introduction to Environmental Law
This course includes sources of environmental law, Canadian and global environmental issues, the legal system and environmental protection, division of powers and common law and the environment. The regulatory framework of environmental law will be discussed using provincial and federal acts and legislation. An overview of environmental legislation including the Alberta Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act (EPEA), The Canadian Environmental Protection Act (CEPA), the Fisheries Act and the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act (CEAA) will provide the regulatory framework for land use planning and mitigation.
