Have you always admired the outdoors, hoping to someday do your part to protect Canada’s natural beauty? If so, our Renewable Resource Management program will get you on the fast track to a rewarding career. This intensive, two-year diploma, developed during nearly four decades of experience, will give you the know-how on nature, helping to prepare you for this exciting field. You’ll learn about various topics including zoology and botany, statistics, aerial photography interpretation and geographic information systems (GIS). You can be guaranteed of a vital career where your knowledge will improve the environment and make a difference.
Renewable Resource Management is right for you if you:
- are able to critically analyze information and make logical, timely decisions
- can communicate effectively in writing and in person
- are adaptable, persistent and tactful

Our extensive field exercises will put you in the thick of the action, where you’ll assess fish populations through gill netting, use telemetry to monitor the movements of wildlife, learn how to interpret grazing patterns, along with so much more. We’ll give you all the tools you need to create a sustainable future.
Environmental Sciences students have access to our Hubbard Collection, one of the largest of its kind in Western Canada, on campus and online.
Students spend most of September and April on field trips and gain hands-on experience in our Cousins Science Centre.
