Our practical two-year diploma will prepare you for a rewarding career involving surveying and mapping your environment using technologies like Global Positioning Systems (GPS) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). While getting the 411 on the latest data collection techniques, you’ll be given that leading edge as you learn to analyze aerial and satellite photographs using the most up-to-date software. Using hands-on exercises, we will introduce you to surveying, mapping and data collection techniques. You learn how to interpret aerial and satellite photographs using industry-standard remote sensing software. You’ll also do fieldwork using survey-grade GPS equipment and become an expert in the use of leading-edge GIS software applications like ArcView.

We’ll make certain you have plenty of opportunity to demonstrate your abilities in the field. You’ll work in small teams on projects that simulate the real-world demands of surveying, mapping and interpreting the relationship between different aspects of the physical environment.

PRACTICUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
There is an elective practicum component to this program. The College dictates the legal terms and conditions governing the practicum experience. Refusal by the student to accept by way of legal contract these terms and conditions will prevent the student from participating in the practicum experience.

* Costs for supplies may vary considerably depending on what students already have or where they purchased their supplies; cost provided is on the moderately high end.
• Year 1 laptop lease costs total $1811.75; the $250 deposit and $160 access fee will be deducted from student loans but the remaining $1401.75 will not. Year 2 students are charged only the $160 access fee which can be deducted from loans. First year students must pay the $1401.75 up front.
