In the medical field, many tasks and duties must be performed to ensure procedures run smoothly and patients receive quality care. We’ll have you on the fast track to a rewarding career where your skills will be vital with our 24-week intensive Central Sterile Processing program. You’ll help support the medical industry by learning how to handle, clean, assemble, function test and package surgical instruments necessary for daily use. We’ll give you the knowledge and experience you need to make your way into this intriguing field and be at the heart of the action.
Central Sterile Processing is right for you if you:
- have good motor co-ordination and manual dexterity
- are able to work under pressure and pay close attention to details
- possess good organizational, communication and teamwork skills
- are not sensitive to latex, disinfection and sterilization chemicals, or the sight of human blood and tissue.
Testing your success
During the first four months of the program, you’ll gain the academic knowledge you need to increase your understanding of this important industry. Following this, you will be given the opportunity to receive interactive, hands-on training with an eight-week practicum where you’ll get to test your skills in different departments on a variety of instruments and equipment.
Students gain hands-on experience in our Cousins Science Centre and during an eight-week practicum.
Prepares you to write the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management certification exam to become a Certified Registered Central Service Technician.
