Helping people improve their lives is a vital part of Exercise Science. Your diploma will give you all the tools you need to make a difference in the lives of others. Upon successful completion of the program, you will:

  • have an understanding of:
  • human physiology
  •   psychology
  •  nutrition
  • fitness leadership and assessment
  • be a certified fitness leader with the Alberta Fitness Leadership Certification Association (AFLCA).

You will be able to:

  • work in a variety of settings in various positions
  • evaluate clients’ abilities and needs
  • determine suitable training programs
  • demonstrate correct exercise methods and proper use of exercise equipment
  • ensure clients exercise safely
  • teach proper breathing techniques
  • lead clients through exercise routines
  • monitor clients' progress and adapt programs as needed
  • provide resources to clients regarding nutrition, weight control and lifestyle issues
  • continue your education by becoming a certified personal trainer (CPT) as recognized by the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology (CSEP).
