Indigenous Celebration Day

October 19, 2017 - 10:00am - 2:00pm

Come and celebrate the pride, history and knowledge of our First Nations, Métis and Inuit cultures at the 2017 Indigenous Celebration Day. The day’s schedule of events will provide a line-up of both traditional and contemporary entertainment, including powwow drumming and dancing performances, Métis fiddling and jigging, a hand drum contest and a taste of culture as well as arts, crafts and community exhibits. Admission is free.

As Lethbridge College is located on the traditional land of the Blackfoot people, a momentous part of this year’s opening ceremonies will be Lethbridge College receiving a Blackfoot name. Guided by our Blackfoot Kaahsinnooniiks (Grandparents) and community members, we are moving together respectfully to a greater knowledge and understanding of Blackfoot ways of knowing. It is Lethbridge College’s honour to invite the community as our place of learning receives a Blackfoot Name. The naming ceremony will be part of the opening ceremonies, beginning at 10 a.m.
