Lethbridge College grieving deaths, injury in Claresholm shooting

Lethbridge College is grieving the loss of four young people and the serious injury of a fifth after a tragic shooting near Claresholm, Alberta, on Thursday, Dec. 15.

The college can confirm that two of the deceased, Mitch Maclean and Tanner Craswell, have been identified as current students at the college and members of the Prairie Baseball Academy. The lone survivor, Shayna Conway, is also a student at the college.

"Our staff and students have been deeply affected by this heartbreaking event," says Tracy Edwards, Lethbridge College president and CEO. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the families, friends, colleagues and teammates of those involved."

Edwards stressed the importance of seeking support through the campus counselling office or the employee assistance program. Emergency appointments are available Friday and Saturday as needed in the college personal counselling office by calling 403-320-3351.
