Applications for Admission to LC are now accepted year-round. Specific admission requirements are proposed by programs and approved by Academic Council. These entrance requirements have been developed to maximize student success in the following areas:

  • Academic courses and field placements
  • Acquiring training related employment

The academic admissions criteria stated in the Calendar has been set at levels required for student success which are specific to each program. In some cases, applicants may have academic backgrounds that are not the same as those outlined in the Calendar. Applicants who believe that their academic backgrounds are equivalent to the criteria stated below are encouraged to apply through the Alternate Admission route as outlined in the flowchart below. The admissions area of the Registrar's office accepts and processes the applications for admission. These forms can be submitted to the College by Mail, Fax or in person and in some cases, online.

Undeclared Student
Individuals wishing to register in LC credit courses without making a commitment to a specific program may do so as an Undeclared Student. They will be required to pay the $60.00 non-refundable application processing fee (fee subject to change), prior to registration in their first credit course. For admission as an Undeclared Student, no other documentation (transcripts etc.) is required. Undeclared Students may enrol in a maximum of four credit courses as an Undeclared Student, a maximum of two courses in one term. Any further registration as an Undeclared Student will require the permission of the Registrar. Undeclared Students may also apply for admission to a specific program through the regular Application for Admission process. Participation as an Undeclared Student does not guarantee acceptance into a program.

Applicants are required to submit the following to the Registrar's Office at the above address:

  1. A completed Application for Admission Form.
    Forms are available from high school guidance counsellors, career centres, agencies and post-secondary institutions across Alberta. This link provides you with a printable form which you can return along with payment via fax, mail or in person. Application for Admission Form.

  2. Information concerning the Applicant.
    All documentation provided in support of an Application for Admission, will be kept confidential. Information concerning the Applicant will be released to third-parties only upon written authorization by the Applicant. For further information, see the Confidentiality of Student Records policy in the Academic Policies section of the Calendar. It is the Applicant's responsibility to notify the College of any change of name or address. The College will not be responsible for incorrect mailing and for missed deadlines due to the Applicant's failure to report a change of address or failure to have supporting admission documents delivered to the College by the dates required.

  3. A non-refundable $60.00 application processing fee (subject to change).
    Payment options are cheque or money order, made payable to “Lethbridge College”. Payment may also be made by phone with Visa or MasterCard, or in person with cash or debit card. Apprenticeship Applicants are exempt from paying this fee.

  4. Official Transcripts of academic records (from any high school, college, technical institute or university the Applicant has attended.)
    An Official Transcript is sent directly from the provincial Department of Education and/or from other institutions, to the Registrar’s Office at Lethbridge College. It is the Applicant’s responsibility to request the Official Transcript from the provincial Department of Education or other issuing institution. Unofficial Transcripts are those issued directly to the student and will not be considered part of the Application for Admission. Applicants who are currently enrolled in Grade 12 courses may report on their courses in progress by submitting their schedule from the high school showing course enrolment. Applicants must have an Official Transcript sent after they have completed all departmental examinations. Students who have deficiencies in their high school preparation may upgrade their status by completing high school equivalency courses. Apprenticeship, ESL and College and University Preparatory (Upgrading) applicants are not required to submit high school or post-secondary transcripts.Transcripts submitted to the College become the property of Lethbridge College. Neither the original transcript nor copies will be released to the Applicants or anyone outside the College. The transcripts and other supporting documentation of all Applicants who are not admitted or who do not attend are destroyed. If the Applicant wishes to re-apply, a new set of documents must be supplied.

  5. A completed Medical History Form upon request.
    Medical examinations are required for some programs. Applicants will be notified if an examination is required following submission of the Application for Admission
Requirements

Application Dates
Lethbridge College will accept Applications for Admission at any time during the year. Certain high-demand programs may have some limitations on the timelines for accepting applications. If a student chooses one of these programs, they will be advised by mail as to the procedures.

Admission Requirements
While every effort is made to ensure the accuracy of Admissions Requirements, the information stated in the Calendar is only correct at the time of printing. Applicants are encouraged to consult with the Admissions Office for the most current admission requirements and information.

Admission Requirements for specific programs are listed in the program descriptions for each program. Due to the range and depth of materials covered, Applicants may be required to complete additional requirements for admission to specific programs at Lethbridge College. For more details on admission requirements to individual College programs, refer to the Admission Requirements section or the program description.

Academic Requirements refer to those high school (or equivalent) courses required to ensure success in the particular program of study. In all cases, equivalencies to those courses will be considered.

Non-academic Requirements have been implemented for some programs as a means of enhancing student success and placing more emphasis on employability following graduation.

Medical or Professional Requirements may also be applied to some programs, where they have been deemed necessary. Letters of reference and questionnaires may assist admissions personnel in evaluating the admissibility of Applicants to certain programs. When requested, this information should be submitted with the Application for Admission. Failure to supply necessary information will delay the processing of the Application.

Admissions Testing
A number of College programs require admissions testing. Applicants to these programs should be aware that they will be asked to show proof of identity. The admissions test(s) will not be administered to Applicants who fail to produce appropriate identification. Only identification which includes a recent photograph will be accepted (eg. driver¹s licence, valid passport).
