Project Vision Statement

Southern Alberta will be a world leader in wind and solar energy generation, technology, and expertise. The vision for the International Wind Energy Academy is to build capactiy of individuals, communities, organizations, and institutions to take advantage of the emerging opportunites associated with the development and operation of large and small wind and solar energy projects.

Project Mission Statement

The Lethbridge College IWEA group believes that community change is possible and will act as a catalyst to take the first steps that are needed to create interest, support, and capacity in rural communities to seize opportunities for wind and solar energy development in southern Alberta.

Project Goals

1. To assess, develop and support the capacity of rural communities to take advantage of existing and emerging opportunities in large and small wind developments.

2. To build capacity to grow a sustainable "next generation" economy in southern Alberta through the creation of a skilled workforce for the wind and solar energy industry.

3. Gather and disseminate national and international best practices from wind and solar energy innovators.

4. To demonstrate the effectiveness and durability of small wind installations in the rigorous southern Alberta wind environment.
