As the first day of classes draws nearer, we wanted to take a minute to help you get your bearings and remind you of just a few housekeeping details that you might find yourself wanting to take care of during your first few days on campus.
Here we go!
There are maps and directional signs posted all across campus and each room on campus has a room number placard either right above or right beside the door – the first two letters of a room number let you know which building the room is in, the first number lets you know which floor of the building the room is on and the remaining three numbers let you know exactly which room you’re looking for (and we’re pleased to say that those last three numbers are usually in proper numerical order on our campus, so you’ll be able to gauge where you are and which direction you need to be heading based on the room number placards).
In case you need a visual, here’s an example of room number “math”:
CE1323 = CE (College Centre), 1 (first floor), 323 (room).
Visit http://www.lethbridgecollege.ca/campus-maps to check out our interactive map – toggle through the “choose floor”, “show” and “hide” buttons at the top and left-hand side of the map to help familiarize yourself with your new surroundings!
You can also download and check out our app (Mox)! It puts helpful information, like campus maps, news, important contacts and course information, in the palm of your hand (and it’s available for Android, Blackberry and Apple platforms).
Student ID cards are available in the Buchanan Library (CE1340) – flashing this card around town gives you the opportunity to take advantage of student discounts. Your student ID card also doubles as both a regional library card and keycard for a few program-specific classrooms.
Stop by the Students’ Association (CE1350) office to pick up a free day planner, rent a locker, purchase a City of Lethbridge Transit Pass, sign up for Campus Recreation activities or opt out of the student health plan.
This probably goes without saying, but textbooks can be purchased at the Bookstore (PA1110) – after you’ve checked out your class list (online), you can cross reference it with the booklist (either online or just outside the Bookstore) to figure out which textbooks you’ll need for which class.
Parking permits are available for purchase in the Facilities Management Office (CE2301).
If we happen to have missed anything or if there’s anything else you need, please don’t hesitate to stop by the Information Desk (PA1130) or flag down anyone wearing a Lethbridge College nametag and ask for help – that’s what we’re here for!
Enjoy!
