In celebration of achieving 50 years of excellence in 2008, Lethbridge College awards 50 - $1000 scholarships to students entering (new) post-secondary college programs every fall!

Students must have applied to a program at Lethbridge College, been sent an offer of admission, and confirmed that offer with a tuition deposit by March 20 in order to be considered for this award.

A copy of your current transcript must be attached to a photocopy of your signed (paid) offer of admission and 50th Anniversary Scholarship Application and sent directly to the Lethbridge College Student Awards Office by March 20, 2012.

Selection for current high school students will be based upon highest achievement in 30-level core courses as of the end of January; as soon as PAT (in applicable provinces) scores can be demonstrated.

Students can request their unofficial transcripts at their high school administrative offices. Achievement for those who have graduated or those with previous post secondary will be based upon their most recent year of studies (these students must also provide an unofficial transcript).

Those selected will be notified in June or earlier and a $1000 credit will be applied to the recipient’s student account in July (12 credits per term minimum). These awards will be cancelled if full-time enrolment isn’t in place by the end of the extended drop period in September.

Please note that this opportunity is not available to students continuing from a certificate into a diploma program or for those students continuing from a diploma into an applied degree program. These students are considered to be continuing and as such, may be eligible for continuing scholarships at Lethbridge College.

Students are nominated by Lethbridge College to receive this scholarship. It is based on the following requirements:

1. Your cumulative GPA must average at least 3.2 for the previous 2 terms (fall and winter only, not spring or summer) in a post-secondary program, and,
2. You must have completed a minimum of 15 credits per term in that previous year, and,
3. You must be an Alberta resident, as defined by the Alberta Scholarship Program – this means that Alberta is the most recent province in which you lived – as a NON- Post–Secondary-student for at least 12 consecutive months, or your parent(s) are Alberta residents, or you are married to an Alberta resident, and,
4. You must be enrolled in at least 12 credits THIS term in the same program,  or,
5. You must be “progressing,” which means that you were in Year 1 of a program and then you began the second (or third) year of a program – in other words, you would have to have received credit for your previous year, and,
6. If you have not received the maximum of three Jason Lang Scholarships (lifetime maximum), you may be eligible.

If you are nominated you will be advised in mid-October or mid-March, depending on fall or winter start dates..

Two award "runs" are undertaken to meet the needs of both fall and winter program starters. Those nominated in the fall term are likely to receive their cheques sometime in December. Those nominees who began studies in the previous January are likely to receive their cheques by April.

If you are a past student continuing into another post-secondary institution you must alert the Lethbridge College awards office as to your status as continuation in studies is a criterion. You will need to fill out an application. Note: Students who have received a Louise McKinney Scholarship for the same time period are not eligible.

Value is based on tuition for first year, not inclusive of fees. Recipients of this award who have to relocate more than 250 km or from another province may receive a relocation bonus.

Recipients of this awards who must relocate more than 250 km or from another province may receive a relocation bonus. (Value is based on half of tuition, not inclusive of fees.)

Value is based on one-half of tuition not inclusive of fees.
