Welcome to Lethbridge College’s Crowsnest Pass Campus. Our campus is located on the second floor of the MDM Community Centre in Bellevue.

A variety of programs and courses are accessible through the Crowsnest Pass Campus whether through face to face instruction or via one of our flexible learning options such as video conferencing or online learning. In addition, we provide a number of services at our campus including:

  • exam invigilation
  • distance learning support services
  • access to and assistance with various forms such as application, registration, and funding forms
  • access to computers
  • referrals to various departments for counseling, advising and service management
  • information regarding Lethbridge College programs as well as other post secondary institutions and providers

If you are seeking FUNDING for your program of study you must apply early as it may take 6-8 weeks for funding to be processed and approved.

College And University Preparation
Grades 11 and 12 courses: online and blended (some attendance at labs required), including Biology, Chemistry, English, Social Studies, Academic Reading, Physics, Math.
Grades 9 and 10 courses:  daytime, video conference, including Biology, Chemistry, English, Social Studies, Academic Reading, Physics, Math.
Dates:         January 7 - April 23, 2013
Tuition:       Approximately $500 per course (including textbooks)
Location:     Crowsnest Pass, Claresholm
Part-time:   Take an online course and drop in to one of the Lethbridge College campuses for support.

*Note - Funding for College and University Prep courses may be available on a part-time basis to students that qualify. You must apply at your local campus for funding early, in order to have funding in place by September, 2013. There are several processes that must be completed in order for a funding application to be sent in for approval. Apply well in advance of June 1, 2013 for September consideration.

Col-004-R20       GED Preparation
Don’t have your high school diploma? - prepare to write the GED test.
The GED is accepted by many employers as an alternative to a high school diploma.

Exam dates follow the course and the cost of writing the exam is included in the cost of the course

Early Childhood Education
All courses required to complete the Early Childhood Education Certificate or Diploma are available by Distance Learning. This means you don't have to leave your home community to complete the program.
Dates: January 7 - April 23, 2013
Academic Requirements 
Alberta High School diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of 60 per cent in English Language Arts (ELA) 30-1 or a minimum of 65 per cent in ELA 30-2 and 60 per cent in Social Science 30 or 33 (psychology, sociology or social studies). Applicants may also be required to achieve a minimum of 60th percentile in reading comprehension, sentence skills and arithmetic sections of placement testing or equivalent.  Students without the academic requirements can apply as alternate admission candidates.

General Studies

Psy-170-R20 Human Development Across the Lifespan
3 Credits
This course is an introduction to the study of human development across the lifespan. Major theories of development will be presented with emphasis on the  sequence of psychological and social growth.  Developmental changes that occur in the physical, emotional, cognitive, and social areas will be examined. Not available for supplemental.

Energy Efficiency Workshops With Bus Tour
Renewable Energy Series - 9 hours

Session 1:   Energy Efficiency tricks and tips (3 hours) - Via Video Conference
Session 2:   Wind & Solar PV Basics for small scale (3 Hours) - Via Video Conference
Session 3:   Bus tour of Renewable Energy Systems (3 Hours) - Meet at a pre-determined location
Subjects include: Learn how to reduce the total amount of energy your farm, home or business generates. By taking this very important first step,you will keep more money in your pocket. Learn about the history and fundamentals of wind and solar PV energy and what it means in a deregulated market here in Alberta. Learn step by step instructions about how to prepare your home for a renewable energy project in southern Alberta. During the third session, we will speak with home owners in the region who have added renewable energy to their home.

Building Smart from the Ground Up - 9 Hours
Session 1:
   Home Building Design
Session 2:   Mechancial components of a home
Session 3:   Domestic hot water, renewable energy, heat loss analysis
Session 1:   Learn about the best in home design and construction including: site selection, structural components, windows, building envelope and insulation. In session 2, learn about the mechanical systems ina home including: furnances, boilers, heat pumps, integrated mechanical, solar hot water, heat recovery ventilation systems and wood boilers. Session 3 focuses on domestic water heating systems, solar energy options and wind power generation. We will also perform heat loss calculations, energy credit analysis and EnerGuide ratings.

CSTS (Construction Safety Training System)
Alberta Construction Safety Association's computer based training program is designed for the individual worker and offered in a user friendly format that allows individuals self-paced learning that is tailored specifically to the construction industry. Practical Nursing Program
This program will be offered through a variety of formats, including video conferencing (learner support), online courses, labs, and community-based clinical experiences. Students will need to travel to Lethbridge for some of the lab experiences and another rural community for clinical experience.

Academic Requirements:
Applicants are required to have an Alberta High School Diploma or equivalent including: 60 per cent minimum in English Language Arts (ELA) 30-1 or 70 per cent in ELA 30-2; 60 per cent in Pure Math 20 or 70 per cent in Applied Math 20, 60 per cent minimum in Biology 30, or equivalents.
A current CPR Health Care Provider-level Certificate is required prior to clinical.

Unit Clerk
The Unit Clerk Program, is scheduled to start January, 2014 In the Crowsnest Pass and applications are now being accepted. Enrollment is limited. Early application is encouraged.

Modes of Delivery:
This 20-week program will be delivered in a variety of modes, including video conferencing, online courses, community-based practicum and time at Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge for the Health-care Billing course (June).
Admission Requirements: Alberta High School Diploma or equivalent, with English Language Arts (ELA) 30-1 or 30-2 at 60 per cent or 65 per cent respectively; proof of typing ability of 30 words per minute. Typing test available at Lethbridge College main campus.
Practicum Experience Requirements: there are some mandatory immunizations required for the practicum. Applicants are advised they will be required to provide a criminal record check before entering the practicum component.
Health Requirements: applicants must provide a specific schedule of health requirements (form provided by the Centre Placement Office).
Tuition: approximatley $3,300.00 plus textbooks

Distributed/Online Learning
Some call it distance learning, others distributed learning, and still others blended learning; we call it a flexible, accessible and personalized way for our students to access our programs and courses.

Through our flexible course offerings, you can:

  • Earn College credits without coming on campus;
  • Choose courses and timelines that suit your goals;
  • Complete a College program while working;
  • Take courses which complement on-campus courses.

Application Process:
Distributed/online Learning students apply to a College program following the admission procedures outlined in the College calendar. You should apply early. Another option is to apply as an undeclared student which allows you to take up to four courses (maximum two per term).

eLearning Café
Lethbridge College’s eLearning Café puts all the resources of its popular on-campus Learning Café at students’ fingertips 24/7. Features of the eLearning Café include:

  • online learning: communication and problem-solving skills, personal motivation, computer skills, tips for succeeding as an online learner, using the internet, managing course work and completing online tests
  • study skills: learning style assessment, online learning strategies, dealing with tests and self-management
  • writing and research: general paper structure, the writing process, research and APA, grammar and writing mechanics.

Online Tutoring
Students taking a Lethbridge College course can access the free online tutoring service available, which focuses primarily on writing and study-skills support. Instant chat, real-time appointments through virtual conferencing and a writing drop box are available.
