Welcome to Lethbridge College’s Claresholm Campus.  Our campus is located at 5202 5th Street East adjacent to the Livingstone Range School Division No 68 offices.

A variety of programs and courses are accessible through the Claresholm Campus whether through face to face instruction or via one of our flexible learning options such as video conferencing or online learning.  In addition, we provide a number of services at our campus including:

  • exam invigilation
  • distance learning support services
  • access to and assistance with forms such as application and funding forms
  • access to computers
  • referrals to various departments for counseling, advising and service management
  • information regarding Lethbridge College programs as well as other post secondary institutions and providers

If you are seeking FUNDING for your program of study you must apply early as it may take 6-8 weeks for funding to be processed and approved.

College And University Preparation
Grades 11 and 12 courses: online and blended (some attendance at labs required), including Biology, Chemistry, English, Social Studies, Academic Reading, Physics, Math.
Grades 9 and 10 courses:  daytime, video conference, including Biology, Chemistry, English, Social Studies, Academic Reading, Physics, Math.
Dates:  September 5 - December 14, 2012
Tuition:  Approximately $500 per course (Textbooks extra)
Location: Crowsnest Pass, Claresholm, Pincher Creek, Fort Macleod
Part-time:Take an online course and drop in to one of the Lethbridge College campuses for support.

*Note - Funding for College and University Prep courses may be available on a part-time basis to students that qualify. You must apply at your local campus for funding early. There are several processes that must be completed in order for a funding application to be sent in for approval. Apply well in advance of July 1, 2012 for September consideration.  

Early Childhood Education
All courses required to complete the Early Childhood Education Certificate or Diploma are available by Distance Learning.  This means you don't have to leave your home community to complete the program.
Academic requirements:
Alberta High School diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of 60 per cent in English Language Arts (ELA) 30-1 or a minimum of 65 per cent in ELA 30-2 and 60 per cent in Social Science 30 or 33 (psychology, sociology or social studies). Applicants may also be required to achieve a minimum of 60th percentile in reading comprehension, sentence skills and arithmetic sections of placement testing or equivalent.  Students without the academic requirements can apply as alternate admission candidates.

Dates:  September 5 - December 14, 2012
Location: There may be some courses available through video conferencing at Crowsnest Pass, Claresholm, Pincher Creek, Fort Macleod and Vulcan.

Emergency Medical Responder
This program is offered by SAIT Polytechnic . Learn the necessary skills and knowledge for an entry-level, emergency-care provider. 
Program includes pre-hospital treatment for various medical and traumatic injuries, a systematic approach to patient and scene assessment, and basic anatomy. 
Delivery includes home study; computer-managed learning and seven on-site workshops.
EMR entrance requirements:
Must be 18 by completion of the program
• Current Standard First Aid and Basic Rescuer CPR

GED Preparation   (General Equivalency Dipolma) -2 credits
Don't have your high school diploma? - prepare to write the GED test.  The GED is accepted by many employers as an alternative to a high school diploma. 
Dates:  October 2 - November 8, 2012
              January 15 - February 23, 2013
              March 5 - April 11, 2013
              Exam dates follow the course              
Times: Tuesdary and Thursday: 7:00 – 9:30 pm
Fees:    $450.00  (includes textbook and exam writing fee)
Location:  Offered by video conferencing at Crowsnest Pass, Claresholm, Pincher Creek, Fort Macleod and may be available at other sites.

Practical Nursing Program
This program will be offered through a variety of formats, including video conferencing (learner support), online courses, labs, and community-based clinical experiences. Students will need to travel to Lethbridge for some of the lab experiences.

Academic Requirements:
Applicants are required to have an Alberta High School Diploma or equivalent including: 60 per cent minimum in English Language Arts (ELA) 30-1 or 70 per cent in ELA 30-2; 60 per cent in Pure Math 20 or 70 per cent in Applied Math 20, 60 per cent minimum in Biology 30, or equivalents.
A current CPR Health Care Provider-level Certificate is required prior to clinical.

Location: The lab component of the nursing courses will be offered at chosen rural education campuses (to be announced); Science labs will be scheduled at the main campus.

Special Needs Education Assistant
All the courses to complete the Special Needs Teacher Assistant are available by Distance Learning. This means you don't have to leave your home community to complete the program.
Academic Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of 60 per cent in English Language Arts 30-1 or 30-2.  Applicants not having the admission requirements may apply as alternate admission candidates.
Dates:  September 5 - December 14, 2012
Application Fee: $60.00
Location: There may be some classes available through video conferencing at Crowsnest Pass, Claresholm, Pincher Creek, Fort Macleod.

Unit Clerk
Modes of Delivery:
This 20-week program will be delivered in a variety of modes, including video conferencing, online courses, community-based practicum and time at Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge for the Health-care Billing course (June).
Admission Requirements: Alberta High School Diploma or equivalent, with English Language Arts (ELA) 30-1 or 30-2 at 60 per cent or 65 per cent respectively; proof of typing ability of 30 words per minute. Typing test available at Lethbridge College main campus.
Practicum Experience Requirements: there are some mandatory immunizations required for the practicum. Applicants are advised they will be required to provide a criminal record check before entering the practicum component.
Health Requirements: applicants must provide a specific schedule of health requirements (form provided by the Centre Placement Office).

Dates: January to June, 2013
Tuition: $4,300 (approximately)

Distributed/Online Learning
Some call it distance learning, others distributed learning, and still others blended learning; we call it a flexible, accessible and personalized way for our students to access our programs and courses.

Through our flexible course offerings, you can:

  • Earn College credits without coming on campus;
  • Choose courses and timelines that suit your goals;
  • Complete a College program while working;
  • Take courses which complement on-campus courses.

Application Process:
Distributed/online Learning students apply to a College program following the admission procedures outlined in the College calendar.  You should apply early.  Another option is to apply as an undeclared student which allows you to take up to four courses (maximum two per term).

eLearning Café
Lethbridge College’s eLearning Café puts all the resources of its popular on-campus Learning Café at students’ fingertips 24/7.  Features of the eLearning Café include:

  • online learning: communication and problem-solving skills, personal motivation, computer skills, tips for succeeding as an online learner, using the internet, managing course work and completing online tests
  • study skills: learning style assessment, online learning strategies, dealing with tests and self-management
  • writing and research: general paper structure, the writing process, research and APA, grammar and writing mechanics.

Online Tutoring
Students taking a Lethbridge College course can access the free online tutoring service available, which focuses primarily on writing and study-skills support.  Instant chat, real-time appointments through virtual conferencing and a writing drop box are available.
