Lethbridge College is proud to mark its 60th anniversary during a 60-week celebration of the people and partnerships who have made the college what it is today.

"[Education] should assist us not only to make a living but also to make a life. Life, we are told, is not a goblet to be drained but a measure to be filled."

– Gilbert Paterson, one of the founders of Lethbridge College

Coulee Fest

It was a 60th birthday celebration to remember as the college hosted Coulee Fest on Sept. 23. By all accounts, the festival was a huge success. Thank you for supporting us over the last 60 years and for celebrating this milestone with us.

Throughout our history, the courage, vision, dedication, commitment and hard work of the people of Lethbridge College kept us on course as we attend to our number one priority – providing relevant, high-quality education in a changing world.

As we celebrate the college’s vision of leading and transforming education in Alberta during these 60 weeks, we will pay tribute to the visionary founders who in 1957 created Canada’s first publicly-funded community college. We will also celebrate the college’s residency on traditional Blackfoot territory and our commitment (from our earliest years) to Indigenous education and improving our practices to better service Indigenous people.

The community has been at the heart of the college since our founding, and we look forward to celebrating that partnership as well as the many milestones the college, its staff, students, alumni, friends and partners have achieved since 1957.
